The Power of B&W

Here you have my Daugther Ashley, I was able to take here photo's the other day and she was able to provide me with many good poses, I have converted this one to Black & White, with a soft glow and blur... The power comes from the removal of the colors nothing has to compete with the model, you are drawn into the shot by the pose and are welcomed by the sharpness of the eyes. As always I welcome all comments, what do you think, does a black & white photo carry more weight in the eye of the beholder?

Midnight Cowboy

The next shot in my attempt to get a handle on the studio lighting, I tried this dramatic lighting on my friend from next door "Ritchie". The main strobe with white umbrella was placed to camera right, the light was then reflected back (silver) to fill the face and shadows from camera left. I adjusted somewhat to get a better contrast in Photoshop CS2. Critique and comments always welcome.

First Studio Shots

Tonight I was able to get out the new Alien Bee and take some shots of the Grand kids and some others, Hayleigh was almost ready to pose then backed out at the last moment. She let me get this one shot before she threw her mini temper up at us.... Look at her I just want her to sit still for a few minutes, unlike Hayleigh the rest worked with me and we were able to make some wonderful shots, they can be found right HERE: tell me what you think.

Just a bit of modeling

I love this shot, I found this pose in a portrait forum, I printed it out and gave the picture to Samantha this morning I told her to practice the pose, and tonight we would shoot it... When I got home tonight she told me that she had been practicing it :) well here it is we shot a few and it worked out wonderfully... Only a bit of unruly hair. I am thinking "hair light" What do you think?

The Grandson

I was able to go with Ashley this morning to visit with Nick, he has grown so much and is on the verge of walking. He is a bit shy of me and the camera, anytime he sees me I am the one stuck behind the camera :) but that is me; that is how I record the sights I see; and the feelings I have; and can portray. He was making some silly faces when he was eating his fries. Ashley had a good time and I was happy to spend this time with her. The gallery link is HERE:

PG-13 Maybe…

Here it is the second week of the New Year and I am able to get good friend to pose for a photo shoot, I was happy to finally get the chance to take Shawn’s picture. We shot quite a few and there are so many good ones it is hard to pick one. Now I had a lot of help with the posing from Bobbie, she was there to help keep me honest we did get a bunch of racy shots of Shawn once she opened up and was comfortable with me… I was complemented as to "how professional I was". (made me feel good) Thanks Shawn. I hope the next photo shoot will be as great as this one was for me. 2006 is off to a good start. Partial gallery HERE:
